Red McWilliams - America's Celt - Returns to Perform for Applefest on Oct. 7, 8 and 9

Red McWilliams returns for his third appearance at Wellsburg Applefest. He also will be performing in Brooke County primary schools during his visit. McWilliams' performances will include Celtic music and story-telling.

McWilliams is a descendant of Thomas Grimes, who settled near Wellsburg in the late 1700's. It was on Grimes' farm the Grimes Golden Apple originated.

The Grimes Golden Apple is one of the parents of another famous West Virginia  apple, the Golden Delicious. The Golden Delicious originated in Clay County.
